11 ways to enjoy Thanksgiving in 2020

“Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other.”

― Randy Pausch

Dear Dog Moms,

New York City and Thanksgiving have a long-standing history of celebrations. This Thanksgiving may be different, but there are still so many ways to enjoy this holiday, right here at home or wherever you may be! Cheers to making 2020’s Thanksgiving one to cherish for years to come.

Here are some fun ways to keep the gratitude going:

  1. Make / Share a dog mom Digital Thanksgiving Card & send it to your friends and family online! Here’s one made just for YOU (feel free to share)

  2. Cuddle up with your best friend (obvi your dog) & watch a Thanksgiving Movie— here’s a list if you need some inspiration!

  3. Make & Decorate a Gratitude or Manifest Jar! Each day is a new chance to show gratitude by writing it down & manifest opportunities. At the end of the year you’ll have so many incredible moments that brought joy to your life that you can reflect on. There’s a special power from writing something down and turning a physical action.

  4. Decorate for Upcoming Holidays! Everyone has a special holiday that is coming up to look forward to. Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, Ōmisoka, New Year’s, Chinese New Year or any of the many festivities that happen around the world, there’s always a reason this season to bring out the decorations that inspire joy!— Also a great way to get some holiday pics of your favorite furry friend right from home.

  5. Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this Thursday November 26th 9am to Noon in all time zones!

  6. Host a Virtual Friendsgiving Party full of fun games like JeoParody & other Thanksgiving themed virtual games available on Etsy! (dog pawticipation always encouraged)

  7. Set up a zoom and invite everyone in the fam to join in, for a limited time for the holiday they are lifting the 40-minute limit so we don’t have to cut our online family gatherings short.

  8. Pay it forward by donating / volunteering this Thanksgiving to help local New Yorkers in need.

  9. Treat your dog to an AKC approved special Thanksgiving Treat

  10. Cheer on your favorite breed & watch the 2020 National Dog Show on NBC Thursday, Nov. 26 at 12 p.m. local time.

  11. Get some fresh air! Take your dog on a self-guided sightseeing tour of your favorite city— Don’t forget to tag @dogmomsofnyc in your pics!

Sending you all the best wishes for a bright and beautiful holiday this week,

Dog Moms of NYC
